Fado records and expresses musically and collectively all our emotions and reflections. When it’s party day, do the party.

This is how many Portuguese choose to spend the last day of each year. They retire to a fado house, enjoy a supper where nothing is lacking, including to choose the best bottles of wine.

After that they are ready for the next Party, to welcome 2020!. After the party, Fado continues.

We reported and welcomed the publication of a collection of poems by Florbela Espanca, performed by a remarkable group of singers, some of them close to these fado houses.

In addition to the aforementioned artists voices that gave voice to the poems, there is also the participation of fado singer Catarina Rosa, cast Café Luso.

The President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was not indifferent to the publication and noted: “It’s Fado … It’s a junction of text and music, is a very fair and magnificent tribute to Florbela Espanca.”

We have one more Portuguese in Switzerland that we should be proud of.

Hugo Vasco Reis, fado guitarist and contemporary composer, begins another tour, this time in Switzerland.

He was selected for the masterclasses and composition workshops that will take place at the University of Arts and Applied Sciences in Lucerne (Switzerland).

Hugo Vasco Reis is a guest artist at Café Luso and Adega Machado (also from the daily Fado Inside the Box event).

Beatriz Felizardo didn´t missed the opportunity to edit her first single, “Distracted Fado”.

The young singer also usually grasps with her promising talent the invitations to perform at Café Luso.

Throughout seven editions of the Artistic Residences at Café Luso, dozens of fado singers, mostly begginers, passed by.

Café Luso, being the oldest establishment that still has its doors open, fulfills this initiative with one of the main purposes of a fado house: a school of those born with the fate of playing or singing Fado.
