We marked the 6th anniversary of the elevation of Fado to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO).

This recognition brought Fado to prominence and honored its main agents contributing to its preservation and innovation, namely the fado houses, for its central, catalytic and decisive role.

Artists such as Maria Amélia Proença, Celeste Rodrigues, Julieta Estrela, Florinda Maria, Julieta Reis, Deolinda Maria, Cidália Moreira, António Rocha (acclaimed King of the Fado minor in 1959) were invited to make a decisive contribution to this Fado House), João Casanova, Fernanda Pinto, Odete Rosa, among many others of different generations.

Being the oldest working house of fado, it respects its original concept: socially consensual and reference space to enjoy one of the most important cultural vehicles of our oral tradition sung, that which is Fado.

No other establishment of this kind maintains so much time of activity in continuity.

Fado House since 1927, the oldest in Lisbon, is placed in the cosmopolitan Bairro Alto. It was adapted to the austere beauty of the vaulted space of the old cellars belonging to the Brito Freire Palace (17th century), to be restored in 2017.

It remains at the service of the Fado, the Portuguese popular culture, the Portuguese, as a business card for those who arrive in Lisbon, from all over the world.
